About Us
Our Mission!
Washakie County Search and Rescue's mission is to ensure the safety of our community. Under the direction of the Washakie County Sheriff, the Search and Rescue Team members use the tools, experience and training they have to effect the safe return of those lost and rescue those in need in various terrains.
Recreational Safety Education
Our programs aim to educate individuals on safe practices during outdoor activities, reducing the risk of accidents. We provde classroom training on survival techniques to community groups and local schools. 
Emergency Preparedness Training
We provide resources and training to help families prepare for emergencies, fostering resilience in our community.

SAR Responses
We provide comprehensive search and rescue help to those in need. We are on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to help our local communities and the visitors who come to Washakie County. Our trained volunteers are capable to respond to emergencies in rugged terrains and waterways.

We are mobilized at the direction of the sheriff. Team members are notified through a critical alert to respond.
Preparation
Team members respond to set up an action plan, equipment needs based upon the initial call for assistance.

We quickly mobilize our resources and personnel in response to emergencies, following established protocols.

Executing the search and/or rescue plan with precision and care to ensure the safety of both the victims and our volunteers.
